The Kids Outside Project is a youth-empowered action plan designed to combat the systematic abandon and incarceration of LGBT transitional age homeless, marginally housed, and foster youth. From behind bars to behind books, the KOP is dedicated to keeping San Francisco Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Queer youth happy, healthy, and away from the detention centers and prisons.Our first action (May through June) is a Book drive for LGBT prisoners in local detention centers & prisons. This is a radical opportunity for youth ages 24 and under to be part of a direct-action team focused on supporting our community from the outside to the inside. Learn how to screenprint your own shirts! Make your own drop box! Learn about the history and theory of prison reform and abolitions! Support LGBT prisoners through correspondence and reading material! Hang out with other Queer youth! MAKE $150!
