Description
Interiors is a three-part vertical dance piece by choreographer Amelia Rudolph with an interactive set by Todd Laby that celebrates, and questions assumptions about, every day life. It reframes movement, relationships and values in the context of the interior of a house. The house is defined in part by a climbable flying dinner table and an elegant oversized picture frame. Built so dancers can move in, on, around and through them, the set pieces are a springboard for the lyrical, minimalist and highly physical three-dimensional choreography. The work seeks to turn everyday life on its side to unearth the beauty of the quotidian and expand the ordinary to include the absurd.Project Bandaloop presents An Evening of Selected Works including the premiere of "Interiors". The company will perform its signature highly physical three dimensional choreography on the floor, off the walls, and from the ceilings of the theater. The new work "Interiors", phase one, is the first half of a vertical dance by choreographer Amelia Rudolph with an interactive set by Todd Laby that celebrates, and questions assumptions about, everyday life. The work seeks to turn everyday life on its side to unearth the beauty of the quotidian and expand the ordinary to include the absurd. Opening night, April 17th will include a gala benefit for the company. Saturday, April 19th will include a special event, "The
Dance of the Vertical" with world-famous climbers Hans Florine and Steve Schneider at 6:45 prior to the show. The Sunday, April 20th 2:00 pm matinee will offer special activities for children including a company show and tell. Artistic Direction - Amelia Rudolph; Set
