A young woman juggles her life living in an embarrassing family and a budding romance with the last man she could ever have expected. It may sound cliche now, but that's only because so many of today's romantic comedies were derived from the same source material-Pride and Prejudice. The Jane Austen novel is one of the most popular books on the planet, and has inspired several literary adaptations and spin-offs by other writers, as well as a few films and television miniseries. The stage adaptation by Joseph Hanreddy, presented outdoors by the Shady Shakespeare Theatre Company, focuses on the comedy of the story, giving the sometimes-heady setting of Pemberley a more modern and accessible tone.
