Description

Bruce Dickinson may have helped shoot Iron Maiden into the stratosphere, but it was Paul Di’Anno who helped start it all. The original singer is slated to make a stop in San Jose while in the middle of an insane world tour that started a year ago and continues on until July. Di’Anno’s voice added a gruffer, punk sound to Maiden in the early days. But after only three albums, he was kicked out and despite going through different bands (Gogmagog, Battlezone, Praying Mantis, Killers), numerous bandmates, hordes of groupies, a mountain of cocaine and enough booze to get Delaware drunk, he has forged on. Besides, when are you going to get another chance to see tattoos like this on the back of a frontman’s head: “666” and “GOD = SUCKER.” Now that’s fucking metal. – Beau Dowling sanjose.com
