There are a lot of reasons to hate Nickelback, but the main one has got to be that they're just so deathly dull. It's impossible to tell if they take their clichéd sound, ripped off from a dozen better bands (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc.) seriously, or if their overly slick angst is one more unit-shifting maneuver. But somehow lead singer Chad Kroeger did manage to find another Canadian hard rock act that improves on their own formula. Unlike Nickelback, My Darkest Days doesn't take themselves seriously, as their big hit "Porn Star Dancing" proves. They just want to party, so much so they almost take their shtick beyond post-grunge and all the way back to the glory days of the Sunset Strip sleaze-metal scene.
