About: Muti was founded in January 2002 and has been one of the stateside labels pioneering the "Breaks" sound with Electro / Techno influences thrown in for lots of flavor. Muti Music has proven to be the launching pad for some top breaks talent and has also helped bring to light the emerging sounds of the west coast. As a label we aim to forge relationships between like minded producers, regardless of their geographical location and continue to bring outstanding urban expressionist music to a greater audience.
About the word Muti
Muti: (similar to Mojo or Juju) is herbal medicine prescribed by 'Sangomas' and 'Inyangas' in Southern Africa and is also colloquially used to mean 'Good Luck' or more commonly 'Strength'.
