Description

SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Music Video Race, an all new music and film festival aimed at showcasing Bay Area talent and encouraging creative collaboration, will debut this weekend in San Francisco. The public is invited to the inaugural MVR screening at 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 27th at the Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell St). Tickets for this all-ages event are $10 in advance or $12 at the door, and are available for purchase on the Rickshaw Stop site.

In May, a ton of acclaimed local filmmaking teams were paired with some of the area’s most buzzworthy local bands to create brand new music videos in just 48 hours. Indie rock, garage, folk, metal, and hip-hop are just a few of the genres represented. Filmmaking teams include some of the bravest and best up-and-coming talent in the Bay Area. Check out the explosive results on May 27th at the Music Video Race Screening Party at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco!

The screening will feature all the videos, prizes for the best clips, and live performances by some of the participating bands: doppio, Le VICE, and Big Light.

Other participating bands include: WATERS, Mist Giant, Elle Niño, William Ryan Fritch, French Cassettes, The 21st Century, Cormorant, Conspiracy of Venus, Vandella, Seatraffic, The Hot Toddies, Cash Pony, and C H U R C H E S.

The exciting lineup of prizes include:
- A three-day recording package at the esteemed Studio SQ in San Francisco
- A $1500 credit for film gear rental from DTC Grip and Electric
- A year-long Producer's Bundle-level membership to the Bay Area Video Coalition
- A subscription to the Wholphin DVD series
- Vimeo Plus and Pro accounts
- Bags from Alite Designs
- Door prizes for audience members

At the inaugural MVR screening, videos will be sized up by highly qualified judges from the music and video industries, including Jacob Krupnick, director of Girl Walk // All Day, a feature-length dance music video set to Girl Talk's "All Day" album; Carlton Evans, Executive Director of the wildly popular and mind-blowing Disposable Film Festival; and Brent Hoff, curator of Wholphin, a quarterly DVD magazine published by McSweeney’s and lovingly encoded with unique and ponderable films.
