Description
MOTHERLAND UPROOTED, the third in a series of MOTHERLAND scripts that the CCC Theatre Department has produced, is an exploration of the realities facing immigrants threatened by Immigration Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.). It is also a look at the current state of affairs among area immigrants and residents striving to achieve the American Dream. In the play, Celia, a Mexican immigrant enrolls as a student at Contra Costa College and becomes a community activist in San Pablo. When she encounters the threat of the I.C.E. raids head on, she demands human rights for all the people in her neighborhood. What emerges is a conversation between immigrants and a charged community.
