When Michelle Chappel, who has a Ph.D. from Princeton and was voted "Most Inspirational Psychology Professor" by UCSC students, took a critical look at her own life, she realized that she needed to heed the advice she regularly gave her students: to follow their hearts. The budding singer/songwriter walked away from academia to pursue her dream of being a professional musician.
