Michael Schenker's been around the heavy metal scene since the '70s, starting out in the Scorpions and gaining fame with German rockers UFO. Despite dropping in and out of UFO and his own sporadic solo projects, Schenker's exceptional guitar work is considered influential in the history of metal. Just about every metal guitarist in the '80s and the '90s cites him as a significant influence on their sound. His latest album, released with ex-Scorpions drummer Herman Rarebell and bassist Francis Buchholz, plus ex-Rainbow vocalist Doogie White, harks back to his early days of heavy riffs, deep grooves and wailing '70s metal vocals (Stephen Layton)
