Long gone are the days of making fun of Stryper's bumblebee outfits--Christian metal is huge. Thanks to bands like Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying and especially Underoath, God-fearing metalcore in particular has been converting the mainstream in numbers no one thought possible. San Jose's Me The Mountain got in on the action last summer with their debut album Speak, and unlike some of the cagier are-we-or-aren't-we Christian metal bands, these six guys don't beat around the burning bush, mixing personal and religious themes and even reaching into biblical apocrypha for allusions to the archangel of Death in "Azrael" (no, he wasn't just Gargamel's cat).
