Steep Ravine is a Northern California bluegrass and folk quartet known for its active acoustic sound,one of a kind songwriting, close vocal harmonies, and string-playing skill. According to
http://www.sanpedrosquaremarket.com, the band is composed of Simon Linsteadt on guitar and vocals, Jan Purat on violin, Andy O'Brien on mandolin and vocals, and Alex Bice on upright bass and vocals. Simon and Jan began playing together in a folk band in high school.Steep Ravine draws their influences from far and wide, including Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Neil Young, Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The band's collective capabilities bring a fresh sound for the audience.
