Overstreet Music is motivational; it is the meeting of sound over silence. Music creates a life sound track, a starting point for memories, and chonicles our experiences. Everyday we have a tempo, a rhythm, the bpm of our day; sounds from the outside world and sounds in our heads. The blending of these sounds is the way we communicate and connect with one another. It’s a univeral expression of emotion and experience. When I play music for people, I’m sharing my life experiences with the audience; I’m also offering up my present moment and Music’s the reason why I’m not considered a criminal. Long Beach native, DJ Shawn Dub seeks and creates a futuristic sound converging soulful sound waves and world rhythms. Beginning in hip-hop, Dub spins sounds from the soul, music he grew up on with family; songs that make him feel home. Mixing soulful hip-hop, house, and break, soul music, Afro beat, funk, and futuristic funk, Dub offers up a progressive sound with just the slightest dash of industry club. Since 2003, Dub has brought his laidback Long Beach rawness to Colorado/Los Angeles Hip-Hop group Deux Process, http://www.myspace.com/deuxprocess. Their debut album, “In Deux Time” hit stores in January 2006, with a much-anticipated second album in process.

Recently relocated from Los Angeles to San Francisco, Shawn Dub has quickly become a noticeable presence on the Bay Are scene, spinning at venues such as The Independent, Levende, Club Six, Milk, Poleng Lounge, Otis, and Nickies. ABOUT DAMON BELL:

From the spectrum of sound providing dance floors nation wide, Damon Bell has emerged as one of one California’s most regarded Dj’s known to expose crowds to sounds that touch all genres of music. At any time in a set, you are bound to hear the polyrhythms of afro-beat, brazilian bossa or batucada, emerging future sounds of nu jazz, soulful deep house, 80’s boogie, rare disco classics to funk & soul. Being purveyor of fine music and record collecting for over 17 years, Damon Bell is a true tastemaker in music.

Originally from San Diego where he and former crew partner Ikah Love held a residency for 6 consecutive years every Tuesday at Bar Dynamite, under the famed name Four Corners Sound System. Playing regularly in the states and over seas while holding residencies nation wide, has allowed Damon to tour and play with artists & groups; Jazzanova, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Rich Medina, King Britt, Femi Kuti, Kinky, Ron Trent, Antibalas, Vikter Duplax, Boozoo Bajou, Bugz in the Attic, Erika Badu, Platinum Pied Pipers, Dead Prez, Nortec Collective, Fila Brazilia, The Roots, Saul Williams, and Bobby Matos to mention a few.

Damon began record collecting and djing at 16 years old, playing jazz, salsa, funk and Hip Hop at San Diego famed Supper Club, Ole’ Madrid; which led him into his deep passion for music. Learning to play the polyrhythms he heard in afro-cuban jazz, jazz fusion and hip hop breaks…he soon began to imitate those sounds by playing percussion and wind instruments. “Djing is just an extension of my love and relationship with music.”

Other collectives, groups Damon is also known for are, the Dj duo Jhramatic Sound with Chris Haycock (Do-Over, LA). Jhramatic Sound is known for pleasing the crowd at any venue these two veterans play. Also The Hue, a production / dj duo with JT Donaldson (gallery / om), The Hue plans to leak its new sound in 2008. Look out for new music Damon’s 1st solo project “The Kush Musik EP” and mixed CD compilations from Damon Bell in 2009.
