What’s in a name? Why, evil golfer O. J. Simpson was known as “The Juice” for the fact that his initials O. J. are a common slang name for Orange Juice. So Athens, GA’s Amber Valentine (guitar, vocals) and Edgar Livengood (drums) were watching the Simpson trial, kicking back, playing the Ouija board or something, and on TV some media choadtwirler claims “The Juice is Lucifer!” Jucifer are chained in wedlock to the fetlocks of Satan, and have been making a significant sludge-metal ruckus as a two-fer. Their 2007 album L’Autrichienne was titled after the meanest yet wittiest nickname for Marie Antoinette; this was a seriously researched concept album that beats the merde out of Sophia Coppola’s movie. Their newest: Throned in Blood: ten snappy tunes about abject misery and human suffering. This Memorial Day, they’re playing at the Maryland Death Fest on the same day with Autopsy, Sodom, Asphyx, Impaled and Diseased.More Info
