Description
Jeff the Brotherhood-JEFF consist of brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall - an explosive 2-piece of 1970's inspired post-punk-riff-rock. No throwback act, JEFF's unending consistency makes their bare-bone rawness a contemporary calling card. Fall of 2010 will see the release of their sixth full-length. Known as a tireless live act, JEFF The Brotherhood have co-billed tours with Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Shonen Knife, Screaming Females and Ty Segall. And they are also the founding members of the infamously defunct Be Your Own Pet.
"JEFF The Brotherhood seem like the type of boys that would steal both your whiskey and your sister's virtue, and still earn a standing invitation to play your basement." - Village Voice
"Boozy and Ballsy" - Ohmyrockness.com
"Just try to get through one of their sets without stomping your foot and pumping your fist." - Nylon Magazine
Ty Segall-
San Francisco psych wunderkind Ty Segall continues a tireless musical assault on ears and minds with his third album, Melted. Segall says it sounds like "cherry cola, Sno-Cones and taffy." On the heels of two critically acclaimed solo albums, Segall holed up in a basement studio with Mike Donovan of the Sic Alps to come up with Melted. It's a carefree yet precise balance of acoustic and electric elements. Distorted echo and thunder mix together with enough clean guitar lines and addictive choruses to deliver an album that recalls the '60s without sounding like anything created during that decade. Time melts away, vision melts away, minds melt away. "Ty Segall's short, sharp songs peal out of the garage without raising the doors, sending 1960s rock riffs crashing through splintered, smart-ass lo-fi buzz." --Pitchfork
