Description
Of all the original Sex Pistols, how is bassist Glen Matlock the one rockin' a solo career? He was the first one out of the band (supposedly kicked to the curb for liking the Beatles, a story I wish was true, but of course is not--he actually quit), making room for the band's quick left turn into pointless nihilism in the form of replacement Sid Vicious. Ironically, Matlock wrote most of the music and lyrics for the Pistols' most famous songs, from "Anarchy in the UK" to "Pretty Vacant," and is the only one of them who has continued to play music pretty much non-stop since then (in the Rich Kids, the Philistines, Slinky Vagabond, etc). For some reason, one of his his most frequent collaborators has been Clem Burke of Blondie, who'll also play drums at this show. Matlock is touring with Hugh Cornwell, former lead singer of the Stranglers. - Steve Palopoli sanjose.com
