In May, Hawk Jones released their EP Que Rico, which proved to be far weirder than anyone had expected. Before that, they carefully rode the line between weird and familiar, with one foot planted firmly in the safe rock and roll traditions and the other somewhere in outer space. Que Rico took that one familiar foot and obliterated it. The terms experimental rock and math rock does not do them justice. Their music is off the charts odd, packed with chaotic, technical, mind boggling licks. Yet, it manages to still be accessible, which is the weirdest thing of all.More Info
