The abundance of craft shows hitting the Bay Area this holiday season has inspired local artisans selling their handmade items on Etsy to launch their own event called the Handmade Ho Down. Shoppers are increasingly looking for artisan handcrafted items. The SF Etsy Street Team recognized the superb talent among its members and decided to step up to the plate to offer a carefully selected group of vendors in a fun venue. The Handmade Ho Down Craftaganza will be held at the infamous 1015 Folsom St. in San Francisco, CA. on Thursday December 3rd, 2009, from 6pm-12am. This craft show is the first official Etsy-sponsored and SF Etsy event. The intimate marketplace is planned as a perfect happy hour and an alternative to holiday mall shopping!Etsy is the highly popular online market place where anyone in the world can buy and sell handmade goods. SF Etsy is a group (or “street team”) of Etsy artisans in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over 200 members participate in an online forum with support, ideas, inspiration, and motivation to fellow Bay Area artisans who make and sell hand crafted goods on Etsy.com.
Handmade Ho Down (HHD) is proud to announce the selection of DrawBridge as the official charity benefiting from the event. DrawBridge is an expressive arts program for homeless children and other vulnerable youth, operating in seven Bay Area counties.. Every penny of raffle ticket proceeds and donations given at the charity gift wrapping station will be given to DrawBridge. Attendees are asked to bring donations of unused, or unwanted art supplies at the door.
Attendees can confidently shop for versatile gifts (for others and themselves) while enjoying an eclectic experience of dj music, a full holiday bar, local artists, and the chance to fully experience the overwhelming tingly good feeling of buying "home grown", "handmade", unique, Bay Area local goods. The first 200 attendees will receive free SWAG bags, full of sweet goodness!
