Description
Gretel Ehrlich comes to the Bookshop Santa Cruz for a reading, book signing and audience Q&A session. She is the author of This Cold Heaven, The Future of Ice and The Solace of Open Spaces, as well as other works of nonfiction, fiction and poetry. For this event, Gretel will be discussing her book Facing the Wave, a heartrending and inspirational portrait of Japan after the 2011 tsunami. The book blends reportage, poetic observation and deeply felt reflection that introduces readers to fishermen, farmers, teachers, monks, outcasts and an eighty-four-year-old geisha who survived the wave to hand down a song that only she still remembers.
