Description
One interesting way to measure a band’s greatness is to evaluate the group solely based on their first hit song. The test works well- as evidenced by Jimi Hendrix (“Purple Haze”) or and even Madonna (“Like a Virgin”). And what about Foreigner? Three words: “Cold as Ice.” Say what you will about the arena-rock acts of the ‘70s and ‘80s, but don’t let yourself overlook the importance of Foreigner’s contribution to popular music. After that song turned the world into believers, Foreigner continued to dish out the hits, releasing “Feels Like the First Time,” “Long, Long Way From Home”, and “Hot Blooded” in a matter of two years. And rock & roll—both as a business and as a musical style—were never quite the same.
