Foothill College Oral Cancer Awareness Walk Fundraiser

Students enrolled in the Foothill College dental hygiene program are hosting the fifth annual fundraiser walk for oral cancer research and awareness Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to noon on the rubberized track at the Foothill College Stadium. Walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to register for the event and participate. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support the prevention, education and advocacy work of the Oral Cancer Foundation.

Every day more than 100 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with oral cancer, with the fastest growing number of cases occurring in young adults who are non-smokers. Early detection increases survival rates to 80–90 percent.

Participants can drop in for a few laps or stay for the whole walk. Each lap is one-quarter mile. Complimentary refreshments and T-shirts will be provided to all registered participants.

Online pre-registration fees are $25, adults; $15, students; and $10 children, ages 6-10. There is no registration fee for children under age 5. If you're not able to participate in the April 9 event, you may still contribute. All donations are accepted and appreciated. Parking Lot 1 provides easy access to the stadium and athletic track. The parking fee is $3. Purchase a required parking permit from dispensers in any student parking lot. Dispensers accept one-dollar bills and credit/debit cards.
