Description
Old Blue Eyes was known for his voice and his acting, not so much for his dancing (when there was really heavy moving required, he usually deferred to his bouncers). Still, the immortal songs of Frank Sinatra are extremely malleable, which is why Smuin Ballet is paying tribute to the great crooner in Fly Me to the Moon, a dance piece set to a variety of Sinatra hits, including “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “That’s Life.” The rest of the program goes in an entirely different direction with Smuin’s Medea, based on the fraught myth, and Amy Seiwert’s Soon These Two Worlds, choreographed to music by the Kronos Quartet.
