FemSexComm
The Female Sexuality Workshop in the Community: Season 4
http://www.femsexcomm.org

Returning this Spring, the Female Sexuality Workshop in the Community (FemSexComm) is a 15-week workshop series with discussion groups in San Francisco and Oakland. Modeled after the long-running and popular female sexuality workshop at UC Berkeley and Brown University, FemSexComm brings these conversations out of the academic setting and into the greater Bay Area community — opening a vibrant space for learning, empowerment, and self-discovery.

FemSexComm provides a courageous and supportive platform to explore a variety of issues and social forces through the lens of female sexuality. Topics include reproductive health, body image, gender identity, sexual identity, intimacy, fantasy, desire, safer sex, communication and consent, relationship models, privilege and allyship, community, and empowerment.

The workshop is open to folks over 18 – people of all genders, sexualities and sexual orientations, ethnicities, religious affiliations, political inclinations, abilities, income levels, and occupations. We believe diversity of backgrounds, interests, and opinions makes our space richer!

**Info Sessions**
Info Sessions will be on Wednesday, January 9th from 6-8pm in San Francisco at 518 Valencia St and on Monday, January 14th from 6-8pm in Oakland at InterPlayce (2273 Telegraph Ave). Check out Info Sessions on our website for complete details: http://www.femsexcomm.org/info-sessions/

The workshop is scheduled to begin the week of February 3rd and end the week of May 12th. Locations TBD in San Francisco and Oakland. Our spaces will be conveniently located near a BART stop and we work to ensure that our spaces are ADA accessible. There will be multiple sections on varying nights, each occurring weekly from 6-9 pm. Each participant is asked to make a commitment to regular attendance and participation.

FemSexComm provides a safe space for exploration, encourages honest dialogue, facilitates collective learning, and builds solidarity within a community.

Past participants say…

“If you are at all curious about sexuality, identity, power, privilege, pleasure, health, communication, community…go to FemSexComm! If you want to challenge your ideas, go to FemSexComm. If you want to get more comfortable talking about sex, sexuality, and pleasure, go to FemSexComm. I can’t recommend it highly enough. I wish every person could have the opportunity to take this course. It’s changed the way I think and the way I show up in the world.”

“FemSex provided for me the space to validate my experiences, to affirm and think deeply about my desires, to challenge my pre-conceived notions, to take charge of my own personal education and to make room for self-love and self-advocacy.”

“Early on in FemSexComm I decided that I wanted my time there to be as truthful and open as possible, so I made the decision to reveal information that I consider very confidential to a group of, at that point, strangers. This was a huge step for me and came out of the desire to have an authentic and honest experience with the people in the workshop. In the workshop, I had an accepting community…They both respected it and allowed me the space to process and also made me feel really loved.”

“I carry what I have learned from this workshop with me always. It has allowed me to become a better ally, an improved communicator and a more compassionate human being.”
