Description

Evergreen Valley College is thrilled to welcome Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston for a discussion as part of their Authors Series. Jeanne has spent most of her life on the Pacific coast, as well as in an internment camp in Manzanar during WWII. She was only seven years old at the time, and has since recorded her memories of her years there are in Farewell to Manzanar, which she co-wrote with her husband James D. Houston, a well-known novelist. The book has sold more than a million copies since it was first published in 1973, and has been made into a film for television. In addition, her essays, articles, and reviews have appeared in numerous magazines and periodicals such as Mother Jones, California Living, West Magazine, New England Review, the Reader's Digest (Japanese edition), Dialogue (international edition), and the Los Angeles Times.
