Description

Earplay 23: Intricate Inventions contemporary chamber music concert features works by composers born outside of the U.S. Peter Maxwell Davies' rarely performed tour de force Ave Maris Stella (1975) scored for mixed sextet is paired with works by three composers who have strong connections to musical modernism, but have imbued their music with a sense of playful invention.

Mary Chun conducts the Earplayers, a group of six outstanding Bay Area musicians: Tod Brody, flute and piccolo; ,Peter Josheff, clarinet and bass clarinet; Terrie Baune, violin; Ellen Ruth Rose, viola; Thalia Moore, cello, and Karen Rosenak, piano.

Earplay 23: Intricate Inventions is presented by Earplay as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival.
