Description

On Friday, May 2, the de Young Museum presents an evening filled with cultural performances and art activities. Celebrate the opening of Jane Hammond: Paper Work, on view in the Anderson Gallery. .For nearly two decades, Jane Hammond has been using a fixed lexicon of 276 borrowed images to create paintings and works on paper, both flat and three-dimensional, that layer prints, photocopies, and photographs with collage and handwork. Experience spectacular performances by Velocity Circus led by a ringmaster on roller skates along with a surreal cast of characters whose performances are inspired by Hammond’s work. In conjunction with the performances, a Hammond-inspired film will be projected in the Piazzoni Murals Room while fortune-tellers and acrobats mingle with visitors in Wilsey Court, 6:30–8:30 pm.There are docent tours of Gilbert & George each Friday at 7 pm, and dinner and drinks are available in the de Young Café.
