Description
San Jose emo revivalists Bread Club are celebrating the release of their latest album, Alive//Well, which dropped earlier this month. The record is raw and unabashed, with singer and songwriter Taylor Bortner confronting inner demons directly, rather than through irony and deflection. Songs like"Astraphobia" and "Panic Defense" are refreshing in their earnestness and demonstrate a confidence and security in the material, even when the material focuses on insecurity and confusion. The guitar work is simultaneously imprecise and hooky, while Bortner's weaves shout-along narratives about days and nights spent trying to figure it all out.
