American Jazz and Blues legend and GRAMMY®-nominated artist, Barbara Morrison, http://www.barbaramorrison.com has won the NAACP Theater Award for Best Musical Director and Best Actress Award from El Camino College in Southern California. Her melodic voice, with its two-and-a-half-octave range, is known worldwide, as are her rich, unique, soulful and highly spirited interpretations of familiar Jazz and Blues classics and original contemporary tunes. Equally as striking is Ms. Morrison's ability to belt out down-home, soul-stirring Blues. Her impassioned renditions of standards are nothing short of breathtaking.

Circling the globe at least twice every year with her Trio, she has recorded in four different countries. Ms. Morrison’s Big Band experience includes performances with The Ray Charles Orchestra, Doc Severinsen’s “Tonight Show Band,” The Clayton Hamilton Orchestra, the Count Basie Orchestra, the Frank Capp Juggernaut Big Band, and The Johnny Otis Show. She has also performed with Joe Sample and The Jazz Crusaders, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Burrell, Jimmy Smith, and James Moody—a veritable Who’s Who of renowned Jazz artists.

The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center 18-Piece Big Band will accompany Ms. Morrison at this presentation of “I Wanna Be Loved: The Stories of Dinah Washington, Queen of The Blues In The 1950s” at Yoshi’s San Francisco.

Jay Jackson, who will portray Brook Benton, American singer/songwriter and Dinah Washington's musical collaborator in the musical, “I Wanna Be Loved,” is known nationwide as the quirky Perd Hapley on NBC’s hit sitcom, “Parks and Recreation,” and from his own highly regarded webisode spinoff, ‘The Hapley Group.’ Jay is regularly seen on ABC’s popular drama series, ‘Scandal.’

In addition to his success as an in-demand actor, Mr. Jay Jackson is one of the busiest jazz vocalists in Los Angeles. He has performed in high-profile venues such as the Catalina Bar & Grill, The House of Music and Entertainment, NOLA’s Downtown, and the prestigious Bar 1912 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Jay Jackson is an Emmy award-winning journalist who has appeared on CBS News, ABC News, CNN, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
