These words will probably haunt B-Real forever: “What is 3 multiplied by 4?” On The Weakest Link: Rapper’s Edition, he answered 7. He’s been mocked for the last eight years because of it. But really now, when you’re the leader of Cypress Hill, the “dopest” hip hop group of the 1990s, in more than one sense of the word, that’s not stupidity, that’s a fantastic career move. For some reason, he felt compelled to say afterward that he wasn’t even stoned when he said it, which kind of destroys the marketing value. Anyway, I doubt anybody was ridiculing the man who wrote “Insane in the Brain” to his face, he’s kind of a badass. Half Afro-Cuban, despite the fact that Cypress is considered a Latin rap act, B-Real was a member of the Bloods and nearly died from a bullet to the lung before going platinum. Many of his experiences are covered in his lyrics, giving his name some cred. Now he’s a solo artist as well; he’ll be at Wet to spin and also, we’re told, perform.More Info
