Description
Three wise poets share insight into poetry and the writing life. Jo Carpignano was Senior Poet Laureate for California in 2011. Ollie Mae Trost Welch writes poetry, stories and award-winning plays. Ida J. Lewenstein is a former ESL instructor whose award-winning, rhyming work has been published online. All three poets are published in Fault Zone. Panel is hosted by Darlene Frank.Jo Carpignano writes poetry, memoir, essays and short stories. In 2011 she was Senior Poet Laureate for California and national runner up for the same title. Madeline’s Story is her biography about her immigrant mother. A former teacher and school psychologist, Carpignano’s work has appeared in national magazines.
Ida J. Lewenstein is a retired ESL instructor who wrote poems, chants and rhymes for her students. Her story poems for children have been published in Fan Story; Sky Visits Earth received an award. She is published in Fault Zone, newspapers, and online journals. She currently writes about environmental issues.
Ollie Mae Trost Welch grew up close to nature on a beautiful, but impractical, little Missouri farm. In addition to poetry, she writes poetic prose. Her memoir, Coming of Age in the Ozarks, tells of her pantheistic, spiritually inspired mother, a poetic foundation Ollie draws upon.
