E. Carlson, circa 1999

Not an iota remains. In the distance, the old Civic auditorium clings to life, next to it TheMangoshack ripples in the sun like Bombay silk.

A keen eye might discern the small lumpen mass of the Quetzalcoatl statue ingloriously positioned on a traffic island at the end of Plaza Park. Not as ingloriously positioned, I might add, as the shamefully secreted Fallon Statue which, as of June 1999, remains locked in an Oakland Warehouse. Genuine historical figures need not apply in San Jose.
