Right-angled buttresses lead out to a parking lot. Once the Fairmont Hotel of its day. The Montgomery has been moved 500 feet to the left. As of 1 January 2003, it remains unrestored.

Paul Bernal offers up the following tidbit:

"You should enlighten your readers by telling them the Montgomery was the largest building ever moved on the planet by using pneumatic (rubber) tires and hydraulics. (There were larger buildings, but they were moved by steel rail and steel wheels.)"
