A.D.M. Cooper
Dec 1856 - Sep 1924
A.D.M. Cooper was, and is, San Jose's most famous artist. He was internationally known during his prime, and once fetched $62,000.00 for a single painting. He often depicted Indians and western tableaus, in a romantic, idealized style. Legend has it that he paid off bar tabs with paintings.
