Description
On this special Thinkwalk, rather than a lot of discussion, we’ll tromp across the landscape for some distance with just three or four stops for quick presentations about the hidden water of SF.This walk inaugurates the new Thinkwalks monthly series (first weekend of each month) presenting free events focused on creeks. We’ll explore watersheds and visit little-known locations of running springs, creeks and lakes. The events will often include some bush-whacking and up to five miles of walking with less stopping than we do on the usual discussion-intensive Thinkwalks. Dress for adventure.
We’ll look at the rehabilitation of the Tennessee Hollow watershed headwaters near the city’s first water source, El Polín Spring in the Presidio. Then we’ll head through wooded trails and paths to Lobos Creek, where the Presidio extracts its drinking water. We’ll then head to another (most secret) location with a small permanent running spring and creek.
Rain doesn’t necessarily cancel. Check here to see exact weather by the minute as it approaches!
Feel free to call if you have questions!
RSVPs welcome but not required. Bring snacks to share.
