Description

Just in her mid-twenties, the soulful Sara Niemietz has already succeeded in the music, film and theater worlds. The Chicago native appears at Summer Fest with guitarist/film composer Snuffy Walden and is best known recently for touring and recording with Scott Bradlee's smash crossover band Post-Modern Jukebox.

Niemietz made her professional stage debut at age nine in Chicago and New York City, notably portraying the younger version of Carol Burnett's character in Hollywood Arms and acting in the 2006 feature film Akeelah and the Bee. She's performed off and on with B.J. Thomas ("Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head," "Hooked on a Feeling") since making her live debut with him when she was only four. In Snuffy Walden, she's found an ideal cross-generational collaborator.

Having played with Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Eric Burden (of The Animals fame), Walden is known to TV enthusiasts as the composer of timeless themes. As W.G. Snuffy Smith, he first wrote music for thirtysomething and then moved on to score and write the title theme for modern classics such as The West Wing, My So-Called Life and Sports Night.

Whether putting their personal touch on modern standards or introducing originals, Niemietz and Walden share an emotive musical rapport that bathes lucky listeners in soul.
