Swee(t)Art Magazine creator and Oakland painter Obi Kaufmann likes to set up release parties for the magazine along with his paintings. “I did it the first time last summer at Cricket Engine Gallery and I am doing it again now at Issues because the synergy with this art-showing magazine shop is obvious.” Obi continues, “If Oakland is ever going to move one from being a burgeoning art town, we need to explore other opportunities than just Art Murmur. The scene and the market is strong enough to do anything we want.”
Radio wine is a series of paintings that is actually the second in a trilogy of paintings that began with the last summer’s sold-out show, Spaceship, paintings about math.
