Description

OXFORD COLLAPSE
Taking cues from post-punk pioneers and genre-transcending bands like The Embarassment, Mission of Burma or fIREHOSE, Oxford Collapse construct melodic art-pop packed full of chiming guitars and shout-along vocals Their new Sub Pop record is both restless/nervous and heartfelt, with time signatures that are as urgent as they are unpredictable.
"Finding the link between the dark and angular side of the synth pop scene and the equally off-kilter indie rock of the '90s, Oxford Collapse came out of Brooklyn, NY, with a fiery and unique sound." --AllMusic

LOVE AS LAUGHTER
Sam Jayne is awesome. He used to be in Lync, which was noisy and weird, slanted and enchanted. Then he did the solo four-track thing, a messy Marvin Gaye. Now, he's got a full band that sounds like Stevie Malkmus fronting the Replacements covering a country tune by Lou Reed. Yes, that good. "What truly blew our mind was Holy, the new disc from unsung veterans Love as Laughter, featuring a guest spot from Isaac Brock (his Glacial Pace label will release Holy in June)." -- Rolling Stone

WILLOW WILLOW
"Equally inspired by Antonio Carlos Jobim and the 1970s British folk revival, the delicate, glossy pop of local duo Willow Willow also includes something of a declaration that irony is dead.... No snark mars the joy of this sweetness, and the long training the two have had as classical singers (they've been singing together since childhood) plays out in harmonies with the kind of depth usually only found on Beach Boys records." --SF Weekly
