Description
La Plebe's music is punk with horns, with lyrics in both English and Spanish. Although the group's roots are in San Francisco, it has a following in far-off places like Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. It has played in Kosovo, Bulgaria, Romania and Macedonia.The band's name is a reference to the common people. It's also used to mean youths and working people, Cuellar says.
La Plebe's music is composed collaboratively. 'We have this relationship where everyone's an equal member of the group. There's not one person that directs or creates or writes more than the others,' Cuéllar says.
The musicians put their hearts, souls and guts into their performances. Some shows have left members so over-excited that they vomited onstage - and got right back into the punk rock mayhem.
