Description
Bun B, the King of Southern Rap, once said, "You can't outrap E-40." The bespectacled, husky hero of the Bay is Cirque du Soleil on the track, effortlessly unfolding mind-bending metaphors and outlandish boasts--all bent by his distinctive twang. His bottomless pit of bars found mainstream success bouncing on the bulbous beats of Lil' Jon, first when he featured on the quintessential banger, "Snap Yo Fingers," then on "U and Dat," a smooth, serpentine worshipping of a woman who could "it a cup on her booty." Recently, on "Choices," he poses rhetorical reflections answered by ping-ponging “Nopes” and "Yeps." Plus the prolific spitter has branched into entrepreneurship. His eponymous line of big-bottled beer debuts this month. (JF)
