Description
Thieves (2012, World Premiere)Presented by Dance Elixir and SFIAF
While pursuing clarity, an inner conflict arises where one can get engulfed by will or despair. Drowning in either of these extremes, a terrifying path is revealed.
Thieves is a collaboration between choreographer Leyya Mona Tawil and composer Lars J. Brouwer. Together with dancers Jeremiah Crank and Isabelle Sjahsam, they create a dynamic landscape containing real time composition, relying on bi-directional communication between sound and choreography.
The development of Thieves received support from Performing Arts Fund (NL), Kunst Stoff Arts (SF), Zellerbach Family Fund, Theatre Bay Area’s CASH Award, Columbia Foundation, and SF International Arts Festival.

Listen & Watch (2006, US Premiere)
Presented by SFIAF and Dance Elixir
Listen and Watch brings together Cie 7273 co-artistic director, Nicolas Cantillon with American guitar virtuoso, Sir Richard Bishop to perform a 30-minute performance danced by Cantillon. The choreography adopts the constraint of never repeating the same phrase. The piece was developed around a succession of emblematic images taken from the history of dance, sport and politics, then blurring the identification of these references.
