Description
These are intimate workshops limited to 6 adults per session. They take place in Maya's personal art studio in San Francisco's Mission District.Through lecture, personal investigation and creativity, we explore the philosophy and practice of Claiming Face through its primary tenets, the importance of reflection, the power of creativity, and the use of presence as support. We will explore the current reality of reflection in children's media, especially for children of color and the impact of being genuinely reflected, or not, in one's world. Maya will address the essence of creativity and presence, and use the hands-on experience of some of the Claiming Face projects to promote a more personal understanding of the curriculum, initiating participants to link their own creativity with self. This class is geared toward educators and those who work with children or anyone who wants to become more familiar with the Claiming Face philosophy.
