Description
If you happened to catch Weeds on August 5, you heard Bomb the Music Industry's restrained, somewhat straightforward version of the theme song, "Little Boxes." This is actually the perfect gateway into Bomb the Music Industry's current sound. Sure, their early stuff was insane—ska for one second. Electronic noises the next. Punk rock moments later, all packed with crazy, self-depreciating lyrics. But BtMI have really reeled it since the release of last year's "Vacation." They've demonstrated a true gift in songwriting (and an obvious fondness for Elvis Costello). They still have the punk rock spirit and brief moments of mania, but they've certainly matured. This will be Grand Fanali's 16-year anniversary show. Phenomenauts, Prima Donna and Kepi also play. - Aaron Carnes sanjose.com
