The San Jose Museum of Art and the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) are hosting a series of short films at the Museum on Thursday, August 16, at 6 PM. The short films focus on Asian life around the world.
The film listings include many official selections from the 2011 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival.
Admission is $5 after 5 PM (free to SJMA’s and CAAM’s members), which includes admission to the galleries between 5 and 8 PM on August 16.
The program of short films will include: "Canada" (2007, 16 minutes, USA), directed by Anjali Sundaram; "Souvenirs from Asia" (2007, 12 minutes, Canada), directed by Joyce Wong; "Lobster Schmobster" (2004, 2 minutes, USA), directed by Dave Quion; "Crocodile" (2008, 5 minutes, Australia), directed by Maura Milan; "A Son's Sacrifice" (2006, 27 minutes, USA), directed by Yoni Brook and winner of Best Documentary Short at the Tribeca Film Festival; "South of South" (2006, 11 minutes, Malaysia), directed by Tan Chui Mui; "Shangri-La" (2011, 6 minutes, USA), directed by Adam Smith; "My Name is Seven," (2011, 7 minutes, USA), directed by South Bay local D.B. Cheng; "Graceland" (2006, 17 minutes, Thailand), directed by Anocha Suwichakornpong and a Cannes Film Festival selection.
