Not many musicians have performing and recording credits with the likes of Big Mama Thornton, Tina Turner, Bruce Willis, Luther Tucker, Jimmy McCracklin, Pee Wee Crayton, Carla Thomas, Booker T. Jones, Percy Mayfield, Etta James, B.B. King, and Jimmy Reed. But Ron Thompson does. This legendary San Francisco-based bluesman started performing in the 1970s, and has been playing and recording continuously ever since with multiple bands to his name. And, to commemorate his contributions to the Bay Area live music scene, September 5, 2007 was declared "Ron Thompson Day in San Francisco" by Mayor Gavin Newsom.
