Radio Station WOV in New York is getting ready for its final holiday broadcast to the troops overseas. The audience takes a trip back through time as a collection of colorful characters bring to life classic American songs such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” “Blue Moon” and “Stormy Weather.” Harkening back to the greatest generation’s greatest contribution, The 1940s Radio Hour is an evening of hilarious and heartwarming nostalgia.Los Altos Stage Company’s production of The 1940s Radio Hour is directed by Lee Ann Payne, who returns to LASC after directing last season’s smash-hit Assassins. Ms. Payne is a Bay Area actor, director, and choreographer who has also provided choreography for LASC’s production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical and will be directing Palo Alto Player’s upcoming production of The Laramie Project in 2018. Ms. Payne is also a finalist for Best Director at the Theatre Bay Area awards for her work on Assassins.
The 1940s Radio Hour features Ken Boswell, Katie Coleman, Nique Eagen, Aaron Hurley, Jacob Jackman, John Stephen King, Gary Landis, Elizabeth Claire Lawrence, Brigitte Losey, Michael Rhone, Nathaniel Rothrock, Michelle Skinner, and Anthony Stephens. Scenic design by Andrew Breithaupt, costume design by Sharon Peng, and lighting design by Miranda Waldron.
