ICA Executive Director Cathy Kimball moderates a panel discussion with artist Jim Campbell, scientist Dr. David Stork, Whipsaw, Inc. CEO Dan Hardin and others discussing the physiology and the psychology of art viewing and art making.
Presented during Jim Campbell: New Work & Collaborations with Jane Rosen. Using LED technology and custom electronics, Campbell explores the connections of light, space and time. His work tests our ability to perceive images by reducing the resolution and clarity dramatically. In a world that is primarily defined by crystal-clear resolution, Campbell uses cutting-edge technology to produce images that are at once recognizable and indistinguishable, providing a challenging counterpoint to the current pursuit of higher and higher definition.
