Description

A decade after The Smashing Pumpkins dropped their Gen-X opus, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the Silversun Pickups reminded millennials just how good '90s alt-rock was with their breakthrough LP, Carnavas. The L.A.-bred band found success in aping Billy Corgan's breathy affectation and reinterpreting the Pumpkins' infectious blend of sludgy, shoegaze guitar tones and propulsive rhythms. The record spawned six singles, including "Little Lover's So Polite" and "Lazy Eye," and proved that Los Angeles could still produce sincere and vital guitar music at a time when alt-rock radio program directors were fixated on the post-Strokes sounds of New York.
