Description
Today, computers can generate all sorts of tones. But back when all electricity did was power amplifiers, these two bands were experts of titanic sounds. Armoured Saint was America's answer to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and their screeching wails, head-banging riffs, and potent drums exemplify heavy metal. Topping the bill, Saxon have been prolific since the early '80s. The Brits speed through power ballads grounded by adrenalized bass grooves. In their prime, they thrilled the first ever Monsters of Rock Festival when they closed with "And The Bands Played On," complete with a rollicking drum solo and flaming guitar finale.
