Description
According to
http://sanjosetheaters.org, This mixed repertory program features the Company Premiere of Les Rendezvous, one of Sir Frederick Ashton's signature works. Set to music from the opera L'Enfant prodigue by Daniel Francois Espirit Auber, this series of light-hearted dances for young adults in a park was the first major ballet created by Ashton for the Vic-Wells Company in London. The alluring Meditation from Thais set to Jules Massenet's "Meditation" illuminates another part of the Ashton heritage. An encore performance of Clear from choreographer Stanton Welch with music by Johann Sebastian Bach follows, and the program concludes with The Green Table, considered by many to be one of the most valuable ballets of the 20th century. Created by German choreographer Kurt Jooss the story is a declaration about the tradegies of war and the empitness of diplomacy. It was created 80 years ago but still has the same compelling effect on people.
