Seventies English punk rock was a brutal force to be reckoned with. The British economy was in shambles and music was the only thing a lot of those kids had-and it was loud, aggressive and completely fearless. One Way System, who started in Lancashire in 1979, are like a time capsule from this era of powerhouse street-punk riffs, politically rife shouting-choruses, and spiky Mohawks. When they broke up in the mid-'80s, they'd played a total of two shows in the States. Since their reunion in 1995, they've gotten to see a lot more of the globe, but they still sound as harsh and raw as they did in 1979. (Aaron Carnes)
